First Guided Tour of The Dance Space for The Welcome Project Steering Group
Just before the Christmas break we were very excited to be able to take some of our friends and partners from the Tarner area on our very first guided tour around The Dance Space.
They represent some of the people and organisations we’ve been working with for more than three years as part of The Welcome Project, which explores the kinds of dance activities people living and working around The Dance Space might like to take part in now, and when we open our doors in July 2022.
At the heart of The Welcome Project is our community Steering Group who help us make decisions about the kinds of dance activities to programme in The Dance Space and at our annual celebration of dance Our City Dances.
It’s fair to say that our Steering Group is absolutely vital in making sure The Dance Space is a welcoming place, so we were really happy to be able to show them the fantastic facilities we have in store for them when we open our doors in July 2022.
Our Artistic Director Cath James and Senior Producer Rose Kigwana led the tour, finishing off with mince pies and a chat through what the next few months until we open will bring.
Steering Group member Vicki Crowther said: “I don’t think I’ve been so impressed by something in a long time. The whole space is absolutely beautiful, the design is wonderful. Everything that people have thought about and put in – it’s just incredible. I can’t wait to come and have a dance here.”
