The Dance Space Taster Day

Visit us at The Dance Space and try out a range of different classes from Bollywood and Charleston to QiGong and Latin dance.

The taster classes will run from 10am -5.30pm, with half an hour slots for each class. See below for our full timetable of the day. If the pre-booking for your class is fully booked, there will be a few drop-in spaces available on a first-come first-served basis on the day.

Book as many as you like - it's all free!
 

Please note that even if the class is listed as Sold Out, there will be a handful of drop-in spaces available on the day.

For under 5s: Wriggle, spin, shake and roar in this fun-filled creative movement session for early years and their grown-ups! Join us every Wednesday, where together we will explore props, rhythm and shape making. All are welcome! This class is aimed at ages 2-5 years.
10.45am - 11.15pmProject Female Youth
Book your place
  • For people in school years 4-6
  • Develop technique in contemporary and street dance
  • Learn and perform dance routines
  • Gain confidence within a dance setting
  • Develop creativity and expression with freestyle dance activities
  • Prepare for joining our dance companies

This class is open to anyone who identifies as female or non-binary.

11.30pm - 12pmProject Female Minis

  • For people in reception - year 3
  • Interactive, high energy dance activities which build confidence, rhythm and creativity
  • Introduction to the building blocks of street dance and contemporary dance technique
  • Freestyle circles and disco time to share dance moves in a safe fun setting

This class is open to anyone who identifies as female or non-binary.

12.15pm - 12.45pmBolly with Sonali

A fun and energetic Bollywood dance session designed to bring people together through music and movement. "Bolly with Sonali" is a welcoming community-led class where participants can enjoy dancing, improve fitness and connect with others in a relaxed and friendly environment. 
1pm - 1.30pmVicky - Empower Her
Book your place
Build confidence and express yourself through movement. Empower her is a community for women who wanna break barriers, shake inhibitions and feel like their best selves.
1.45pm - 2.15pmMyCharleston
Book your place
The Charleston is an upbeat and playful dance from the 1920s. With great dance steps and music to match, you can develop your dance skills in a friendly class setting. You don't need a partner or any previous dance experience, it's suitable for all levels.
2.30pm - 3pm

Wellness Dance - For those living with and beyond cancer

Book your place

Our classes are for anyone living with or beyond cancer, as well as family members and loved ones who would like to join.

These uplifting sessions use gentle dance and movement to support your physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. These classes are suitable for all abilities, fitness levels and energy levels, with seated options always available.

Weather you're going through treatment, recovering afterwards, managing fatigue, or simply looking to reconnect with your body and build confidence, movements can be adapted to suit your individual needs.

3.15pm - 3.45pm

Qi Gong with Peter Deadman

Book your place

Qigong is a transformative practice that combines sophisticated body work with regulation of breathing and the cultivation of mindfulness. It can be practised at any age.

The benefits of qigong (pronounced cheegong) include better mental and physical health; a stronger and more fluid body; improved  sporting, martial and dance performance and reduced risk of injury; a connection to nature and to something greater than our daily selves.

Solo Latin Flow with Marta

With Solo Latin Flow, Marta brings together her passion for Latin dance, musicality and movement. She believes that enjoying dance starts with feeling comfortable in your own body, building confidence and connecting with the music. Her classes offer a friendly and supportive space where people can develop these skills while having fun, whether they are completely new to Latin dance or already enjoy salsa and bachata partner work.
4.45pm - 5.15pm

Samba with Winnie

Book your place

Whether you are completely new to Samba, or looking to keep your skills up, this open level class is perfect for dancers from beginner to intermediate level. Winnie will transport you to Brazil focussing on Samba skills and techniques with lots of energy and infectious passion.
