Rebirth
Led by Philip Hulford and/or Hannah Shepherd, with occasional guest artists.
Each session will start with guided meditation, breathing exercises, or a movement-based warmup, followed by a longer period of guided movement and dance exploration to connect the body with the mind using breath. The session will then open up for movement improvisation, feeling the music, the energy, and riding the wave of meditation and movement together: a space of harmony, healing, understanding,, and new vision. A Rebirth.
No previous dance or movement experience needed. Bring comfy, warm clothes and a water bottle.
Hannah Shepherd Graduated The Place in 2006 going onto a post Graduate with Edge Dance Company. She then worked with various choreographers such as Hofesh Shecheter for over 10 years and more recently Lost Dog Dance with Ben Duke where she is currently touring Ruination, a retelling of Medea. Hannah loves to teach with imagery, music and emotional exploration that all influence the body's movement qualities. She has a very soft and creative outlook on how the body functions within art and expression, she is very musical and loves nature.
Philip also trained at The Place and graduated in 2007 and fell into the Hofesh Shechter Company where he stayed touring and creating works for a decade. He then went onto train in Parkour and Stunts and in the last decade has been acting for screen mainly. He has a fiery and wild side which is evident in his movement yet there is a very gentle nature to him. His classes tend to be instinctive, using deep breathwork and mindful movement to dive into a journey of the whole being, mind, body and soul, and beyond.
