Class description
This professional level inclusive contemporary dance class will reflect Stopgap’s current repertoire and their teachers’ personal practices. Class will include time to warm-up and check-in with your body; the class may include improvisation, exercises, travelling and contact work.
Stopgap’s teachers do their best to accommodate the needs of the class by teaching with open language, demonstrations and descriptions, alongside Stopgap’s translation tools. We encourage you to take class at your own pace, you know your body best.
About Emily
Emily studied at London Contemporary Dance School, during her training she worked with artists and choreographers such as Igor x Moreno, Yukiko Masui (SAY Dance), Richard Alston Dance Company, Leila McMillan and Valerie Ebuwa.
She continued her dancing with Stopgap Dance Company as a Professional Placement Scheme student, here she had the opportunity to collaborate with company dancer Nadenh Poan, performing in his work REFLECTIONS, as well as being a presenter in the digital series Dance for Kids with IRIS. After she completed her placement, she performed and toured Stopgap’s outdoor work, Frock.
Emily is interested in combining Flying Low and inclusive methods into her dance practice, she had the opportunity to go to Brussels in 2020 to learn from David Zambrano. She has also worked with artists including Jo Fong, Raquel Meseguer and Sophie Nüzel.
Emily joined as a company member in November 2022 for Stopgap’s new indoor production, Lived Fiction
