We want The Dance Space to be a welcoming home for dance with a variety of classes and workshops on offer and a diverse range of people and organisations using the space. We operate a sliding scale pricing structure. For information on these rates, please see below:

Rate A: Charities and businesses with a turnover of more than £250k per annum; schools, universities and commercial organisations who wish to hire space for, for example, workshops, rehearsals, commercial filming or photography, private parties, team building events, meetings, conferences and awaydays.

Rate B: Charities and businesses with a turnover of less than £250k per annum; dance artists and organisations in receipt of public or private funding via project or other grants, that wish to hire space for, for example, regular classes, workshops, rehearsals, development and meetings.

Rate C: We will have a limited amount of space to offer at a reduced rate to non-funded independent artists (currently not in receipt of any public or private funding). This space is available for rehearsal, research and development purposes only. We will hold two weeks of space per term available to hire at Rate C specifically for artists who identify as disabled, neuro diverse, black, indigenous or people of colour. This space can be booked as far in advance as needed. Please contact us to have a conversation about your requirements.

For all other enquiries at Rate C, space will be allocated on a first come first served basis and can be booked up to one term in advance. We will announce when we will begin taking bookings at Rate C on our social media channels. Follow us @southeastdance or sign up to our mailing list at the footer of this page.

If you are unsure which rate applies to your organisation or activity, please contact to discuss.

We began developing these rates before the Covid-19 emergency and so without any assumptions around social distancing.  We are now, however, mindful of a constantly changing situation regarding public safety in times of Covid-19, and in consultation with other venue-based dance and arts organisations, are working on various models for safe and successful building and programme operations, should some form of social distancing still be necessary in the longer-term.  In light of this we may need to make adjustments to our rates going forward.

If you are interested in hiring any of our spaces when The Dance Space opens in 2021, please get in touch with our Studio Hires team at or 01273 645262. We would love to hear from you!

All studio bookings will be subject to availability and subsequent acceptance by the programming team in line with South East Dance’s vision and programming policy.
