Rough Cuts: Hatch Collective

An offshoot of our annual scratch night Hatch, Hatch Collective events are informal studio sharings designed to support the creative process. These relaxed sessions give artists the opportunity to test ideas, receive feedback, and spark meaningful conversations with local audiences.

In this first event in the Hatch Collective series, part of our year-round Rough Cuts programme, artists will share a no-frills excerpt of up to 15 mins of creation. There will be time built in to mingle, discuss the work and create dialogue in a supportive space.

Tea, coffee and informal discussion will take place in the interval. There will also be drinks and time to chat to the artists about the work after the show.

Please note: The artists presenting work in Hatch Collective will be sharing early 'works in progress'.. Because these works are still in development, we aren’t able to provide detailed content notes or guarantee that they will be free from sensitive or potentially triggering material.

Pankhuri A Mehndiratta

This solo performance is an offering of Sufi Kathak—a contemporary movement practice rooted in the classical vocabulary of Kathak and inspired by the devotional traditions of Sufism. Through rhythmic footwork, meditative turning, expressive gesture and stillness, the work explores the universal human journey from separation towards connection, inviting audiences into a space of contemplation, presence and joy.

‘Painted as Friends’: A captivating new duet presenting a patchwork of historical lesbian relationships. Performed and created by a queer couple, this piece honours those branded as ‘just good friends’ and lost to time.

Ranse Howell – Hatch alumn

In prior work, I have explored the intersection of multiple hidden identities and the impact on interpersonal relationships. This work in progress examines the role of visible identities and the assumptions and biases that are reinforced by AI and the growing technological divide.

ITCH Dance

Sub Rosa: ITCH's new work descends into the dark architecture of the body, where trauma fractures and memory loops. Emotions linger beyond their source, haunting the spaces between what is remembered, what is buried, and what refuses to disappear.
