We are looking for volunteers to join our friendly team at South East Dance, to help us out at events taking place at The Dance Space this May 2023.

We actively welcome applications from people who are disabled and will make reasonable adjustments wherever possible. 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

  • Friendly, polite and approachable individuals
  • People who are sociable and enjoy talking to members of the public
  • Confident English speakers (any other languages, including BSL would be a plus but not essential)
  • People who enjoy working as part of a team in an arts environment

 

ROLES: WELCOME SUPPORT AND FRONT OF HOUSE HOSTS 

In these roles you will welcome visitors to The Dance Space, offering a friendly face and support to audiences during their visit. 

Welcome Support  

  • Meeting and greeting audience members as they arrive for shows and being the festival face and welcome to the building
  • Answering questions, providing general information and assisting with directions.
  • Supporting any elderly, vulnerable or new audience members to the performance space
  • Familiarising audiences with the space, and directing them to various performance and event locations.
  • Watching the show

 

Front of House Host 

  • Greeting audience members at the auditorium doors
  • Checking tickets
  • Clicking audience members into space with a clicker
  • Giving out programmes
  • Seating late comers
  • Watching the show
  • Supporting audiences to exit the space and exit flyering
  • Supporting audiences to do post show audience surveys

Fri 19 & Sat 20 May: Stuart Waters / A Queer Collision A Queer Collision | South East Dance
Shift times: 4.30-9.30pm

Fri 26 & Sat 27 May: Takeshi Matsumoto / Club Origami: Club Origami | South East Dance
Shift times: 9.30-3.30pm

Tue 30 May: Krystal S.Lowe / Remarkable RhythmRemarkable Rhythm | South East Dance

Shift times: 9.30-3.30pm

USEFUL INFO

  • All shifts will include appropriate breaks and access to refreshments
  • We’re looking for three volunteers per show / shift (for longer days, shifts can be split)
  • On arrival, all volunteers will have a mini training session and orientation with the Event Manager (approx. 20mins) and then a full show briefing with all staff members working on the event
