Sam Wild (with Camille)
Performing at HATCH on Wednesday 24 June, 7pm
About their piece - Double Self-Portrait
DOUBLE SELF-PORTRAIT grips onto the exaggerated and at times uneasy world of the early twentieth-century art movement German Expressionism. With the pioneering film, dance and artwork of Robert Wiene, Fritz Lang, Mary Wigman and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner at its core, distorted paint and shadows blur across shifting surfaces. Two living portraits warp alongside renderings of themselves as well as several esteemed Expressionist artists and become doused in the dark gothic sound of the iconic 80s band Bauhaus.
