HotCat Collective
Performing at HATCH on Wednesday 24 June, 7pm
About their piece - Stop Playing Jacob’s Ladder With My Spine
‘There are ants in your drawers. There is food in your microwave. There is blood on the food. There are ants in the blood. They are watching you eat. You have a nosebleed.’ HotCat Collective present an extract from their new show about loss of control, expectations within domestic settings, and what it means to rot in the face of sterilization. Two dancers and a microwave invite you to embrace chaos despite the prying eyes. Don’t hide. Come and see the beautiful colours on your mouldy fork
Artist Biography
HotCat Collective is a queer, dance-theatre collective of early-career artists based in Oxfordshire. Combining a contemporary dance practice with absurdist theatre, they focus on devising material that delves into surreal themes, interrogating the intersection of gender and the domestic, and notions of observation and surveillance. Alongside ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ HotCat have recently been developing ‘Nara’, a choreographic duet investigating propaganda and the threat to shared queer spaces of safety.
