Welcoming RAPPORT Nigeria artist to The Dance Space
Nigerian dance artist Angela Okolo is spending just over a week in residence with us here at The Dance Space in March 2026, as part of our RAPPORT international exchange programme.
Angela is a dance artist from Delta state, Nigeria, a graduate of the University of Benin, where she obtained a Bachelor and Master's degree from the Department of Theatre Arts and is currently studying for a PhD.
Angela first visited The Dance Space in 2025 while she was in Brighton on tour with Q Dance Company, performing at Brighton Dome.
She has worked with choreographers such as Qudus Onikeku, Dr. Abbe Josephine and Prof. Chris Ugolo. She has performed and toured nationally and internationally with Q Dance Company, Lagos. In addition to performing, Angela is the Director of Studies at QDance Centre.
Angela's vision for her future focuses on continuing to push the boundaries of dance, expanding the frontiers of dance choreography, especially contemporary African dance.
"I want to give hope to the younger generation that dance is serious business," Angela says: "During my residency, I’ll be exploring the body as a multidimensional space - beyond the physical form - engaging with its spiritual, emotional, and traumatic layers, and how these can be expressed through movement".
