Celebrating Capital Kickstart funding for The Dance Space

We are absolutely over the moon to report that we have been awarded a £406,928 Capital Kickstart grant as part of the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund.

This allows us to push forward with our vision for The Dance Space, despite the financial challenges caused by the impact of Covid-19, and enter an exciting new phase of fitting out the building with all the essential facilities we’ll need to open to the public in 2021.

Our capital fundraising campaign is not quite over yet however, and we will be continuing to fundraise for specific equipment for the studio spaces, such as anti-microbial dance floors.

Our Executive Director Rachel Gibson says; “Covid-19 has highlighted how adaptable we must be in terms of what The Dance Space has to offer, and we need to ensure that we provide facilities that appeal to the widest range of users - now and in the future.

“For now we are extremely grateful for this major boost which will help us enter 2021 with a renewed energy for bringing The Dance Space to life, and welcoming people across the South East into their new home for dance.”
