This is a five day dance residency focusing on exploring creating dance performance for young audiences. During the five days, artists will immerse themselves in a week of learning about early years development and exploring how this knowledge can support and shape the artists’ already established creative practice. The residency will have a laboratory feel to it, a moving and safe place to experiment while developing a rich understanding of making high quality dance work for, by and with very young audiences.

The week will offer opportunities for artists to learn from and working alongside an established and internationally renowned choreographer Koen de Preter who makes work for and with a diverse range of audiences who can also act as a critical friend and mentor; and Early Years Dance Specialist Hannah LeFeuvre. This is a professional development opportunity providing choreographic, dramaturgical and early years developmental insights; enabling artists to develop knowledge and confidence in the creation of work for early years settings and audiences.

The week will be held and facilitated by experienced dramaturg Lou Cope, who has a wealth of experience and is committed to the Little Big Dance aims and ethos.
