6 weeks from 8 January with Liz Aggiss
You are welcome to join Liz Aggiss for some creative thinking, creative dancing, creative writing and to generally experience her approach to dance. She’ll kick off with her 'special' brain and body warm ups. She’ll then offload and share her ideas and compositional tasks, and invite you to have fun deconstructing and interpreting them. She’ll play some fab music and probably accompany you on drum. She’ll finish up each session with a brief Q&A. And that’s it!
Liz Aggiss is an award-winning artist, the ‘enfant terrible’ of the bus pass generation, ‘the grand dame of anarchic dance’ and ‘the sister Iggy Pop never even knew he had’. Born on Nanny Goats Common, Dagenham, Essex, a post war baby, into a repressive era in the suburbs, where parents were truly in charge and children were seen and not heard, Liz Aggiss never had a clue who she was or what she wanted to do, she just knew she would like to be seen and heard.
6 weeks from 26 February with Joel O'Donoghue
Joel says “My class encompasses a range of styles and techniques - from release-based floor work to exploring Lecoq’s 7 states of tension in the body, from structured contact-based improvised exercises to repetitive footwork patterns inspired by folk dance. But, ‘what knits it all together?’ I hear you say. In all honesty, I’m still trying to work that out, but the most obvious answer to me right now is play.
Throughout the classes we will use these different exercises (or structures) as starting points to focus both the body and mind, giving each participant a common ground to work from, and see where we go from there.”
