Miguel's professional training class is a guided, inclusive improvisation class led by Miguel Altunaga, blending contemporary movement, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and theatrical exploration. 

Through clear prompts and rich imagery, dancers unlock new textures, instincts, and creative expression. Open, playful, and deeply physical, this class celebrates individuality and invites everybody to discover their own voice in mo4on.  

This class is open to professional dancers, Movers, and advanced students. Movement can be adapted as needed. Dancers are encouraged to work at their own pace. Welcoming, inclusive, and supportive of all identities and bodies.

 

About Miguel

Miguel Altunaga is a Cuban British choreographer, movement director and performer whose dynamic career spans leading international companies, including Danza Contemporánea de Cuba, Rambert, Hofesh Shechter Company, Akram Khan Company, and Lost Dog. Renowned for his powerful presence and versatility, he has performed internationally in works by some of the world’s most celebrated choreographers.  

 

As a creator, Miguel has developed work for organisations across the UK and Europe, including Rambert, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Acosta Danza, Simply Red, Elmhurst Ballet School, Tate Modern, ArtEZ, Codarts, Opus Ballet, Theatre-Rites, ENBYouthCo, National Youth Ballet, Artistry Youth Dance and the Holland Dance Festival. His choreographic voice blends contemporary, Afro-Cuban folk dances, Urban and theatrical influences.  

 

Miguel is the recipient of the Cuban Best Male Solo Award and has been nominated for multiple Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards. He has also served as a judge for the BBC Young Dancer.
