The Practice of Play
Part of our Permission to Play programme, the Practice of Play is a weekly creative session led by contemporary dance and theatre practitioner Antonia (Toni) Grove, and on 29 June with dancer, actor, choreographer, and standup Janelle Hacault.
Open to artists, makers and performers from across creative disciplines, the class creates a supportive space to experiment, take risks and reconnect with play as a serious artistic practice and invite participants to explore improvisation, imagination and physical play.
Toni is currently exploring clown as part of a Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP) award from Arts Council England, investigating how these approaches might inform her future performance work.
Participants are also invited to stay after each session for informal provocation and discussion over tea and coffee.
Schedule for each session:
9.15am: studios open for self-practice and arriving in the body (Aldridge Studio)
9.30am: Toni leads creative practice session (Aldridge Studio)
10.30am: Provocation over tea/coffee (Village Green)
