A National Panel will select a small number of dance pieces from each Regional Platform to have their work showcased at the U.Dance National Festival 2022. The 2020 and 2021 festivals took place online, and One Dance UK are aiming to return to a live format in 2022, with additional digital elements so all young dancers around the country can experience the thrill of the festival!
U.Dance on Stage groups/individuals selected for the National Festival will have the opportunity to perform live on stage and also to meet, learn from and dance with the country’s leading dance professionals. U.Dance on Stage groups/individuals who wish to be considered for the National Festival must be available to attend in Glasgow on 22-24 July 2022.
U.Dance on Screen films selected for the National Festival will be screened at the festival and potentially on the big screen at partner cinema locations. U.Dance on Screen groups/individuals will not go to Glasgow, all activity will be online.
Please read the U.Dance 2022 Guidance Notes for more details about the National Festival and to inform your Screen Moves application.
In the U.Dance 2022 Guidance Notes please note the Group Leader Considerations section on page 10, with information about chaperones/supervising adults for groups. If the National Festival includes live activity any solo performers will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult/chaperone.
There is no charge for selected groups to take part in the National Festival. U.Dance on Stage selected groups/individuals are responsible for organising and paying for their own travel, food, chaperones and accommodation. There is a small support fund from One Dance UK to help groups who might require assistance. One Dance UK will provide details of accommodation options to the selected U.Dance on Stage groups/individuals.
South East Dance welcome applications from groups and individuals who only wish to be showcased at the Regional Platform level, and not be considered for the National Festival. If that is the case you may indicate this on the application form.
