You can hire our purpose built, state of the art studios and creation space to rehearse, create, research and develop work at The Dance Space.

The Weston Research Space

Perfect for R&D, rehearsal and creation (where no technical facility is required), The Weston Research Space is available to hire between 9am-5.30pm, Monday – Friday. This space includes a soundsystem.

Please note, the space should be cleared at the end of each day whilst working in this space. We can offer a small amount of storage space should this be required overnight.

The Jamie Watton Creation Space

The Jamie Watton Creation Space does what it says on the tin. Its an incredible space for the creation of work – as well as for R&D or rehearsals for larger casts.

You can hire the space as a ‘dry hire’ – including sound system only (see rate card) or you can use the technical facilities available and hire the space for production time.

We love welcoming artists and companies into the space at any point in their creation period to experiment with lights, sound, projection or other production elements.

There are some additional costs related to the use of the space in production, as follows:

Technical staff are charged at £25 per hour (minimum 4h call) and depending on the scale of the work you are creating, we can advise you how much technical time you will require for get-in / out and operation during your time in the space.
We charge overheads of £50 per day for the use of the lighting rig and sound equipment (other than just our generic blue-tooth sound system). This supports the costs of maintenance of this equipment as well as the energy costs related to running it.
Use of projector is £100 for day 1 (includes set up) and £75 per day thereafter. Note the space comes with a black cyc (cyclorama.) To change this to a white cyc, we need to factor 2 x technicians at £25 per hour (4 hour call) = £200.

Green Room

The Creation Space also comes with a beautiful green room space, complete with accessible toilet and shower, accessible kitchenette, fridge, microwave, sofa and hanging rails. It’s a great breakout or chill out space for artists and companies – who get sole use of this space throughout the hire. It also includes stage access for performers entering and exiting the space.

Open Class & Sharings

If you would like to open up any part of your creation process with our local artistic or wider community, we are always keen to support this. In the past, companies in residence have opened up company class, talks or sharings and it’s a great way to share your work and gain valuable insight at various points in your process.
