When is The Dance Space available to hire?

The Dance Space is available to hire Monday – Saturday from 9am – 9pm in both term time and non-term and will follow the term dates as set by Brighton and Hove City Council.

How do I book a studio or meeting room?

If you are interested in hiring our spaces, whether for a class, meeting, conference or performance we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with our studio hires team at studios@southeastdance.org.uk with details of your request and we will get back to you as soon as we can. 

How much will it cost to book a studio or meeting room?

All of our studios and meeting rooms are available to hire on a sliding scale price structure, which you can find on the individual studio and meeting room pages.

What is the minimum booking length for a studio or meeting room?

There is no minimum booking length to hire space in one of our meeting rooms. However there will be a small fee for hires outside the hours of 9am – 6pm. 

There is a three-hour minimum booking in the Weston Research Space and Jamie Watton Creation Space and a one hour minimum booking in the Aldridge Community Space.

 Please note: the three-hour minimum booking does not apply to 'last minute studio space' bookings. 

I am an independent artist and I would like to hire a studio to research a new piece of work. How do I apply for studio space at Rate C?

We have a limited number of hours available at Rate C each term. This space can be booked as far in advance as needed subject to availability. Please contact us via studios@southeastdance.org.uk  

I would like to hire the Aldridge Community Studio for a dance class. What rate would apply to me?

All public class hires in the Aldridge Community studio will be charged at Rate B. Rate B is £35 p/h in the Aldridge Community Space and The Weston Research Space.

Will you have last minute studio space available to hire?

Yes! Last minute studio space is available in advance and is subject to availability.  

What are the opening times of the studios and meeting rooms at the Dance Space?

The studios, including The Aldridge Community Space, The Weston Research Space and The Jamie Watton Creation Space are all available to book Monday – Friday between the hours of 9am – 9pm. The Meeting Rooms are available to hire between the hours 9am – 6pm. Please note, organiser access if from 9am, there is a small fee should you require earlier access before 9am.

The Boardroom: 

Boardroom layout: 16 people

Classroom layout: 18 people 

 

South East Dance Meeting Room:

Boardroom layout:8 people

 

Aldridge Community Studio: 

20 – 25 people dancing

 

Research Studio: 

20 – 25 people dancing

 

Creation Studio:

40 people dancing when seating is retracted 

123 audience seating

Will there be Wifi?

Yes, there is free Wifi throughout the building. The Wifi code and password will be available from reception.

What shoes can I wear in the studios?

To protect the floor, we kindly ask that only footwear with a non-marking sole are worn in any of the studios. This includes shoes such as ballet shoes, jazz shoes and non-marking trainers. 

For further information regarding ballroom heels and other specialised footwear in The Dance Space, please contact our studios team to discuss. 

Can I open windows in the studios?

The Dance Space has been designed with the highest possible environmental credentials which means that, for energy saving reasons, windows in the building cannot be opened. We have a state of the art air handling system which brings fresh air into all spaces.

Does the Dance Space have disabled access and facilities?

Yes! All of our studios and meeting rooms are wheelchair accessible. There is also lift access to all floors of The Dance Space from street level.
