Brighton Screendance Festival Call Out: Homegrown

Are you an artist based in the South East and have you created a dance film that you’d like to present in a film festival? We’d love to hear from you!

Filmmaking for Young Dancers

South East Dance presents our second festival of dance on film, Brighton Screendance Festival 2024, in partnership with Cinecity.  Set over the weekend of 16-17 November 2024, this year’s festival explores a curious and playful mix of movement, choreography and moving image.

As part of the festival we are presenting Homegrown, featuring dance films created by makers in the South East. This will be screened on the afternoon of Saturday 16 November 2024 at The Dance Space in Brighton.

Here’s the key info

Your work must be:

- A dance film (completed, IE not work in progress)
- No more than 7mins in length
- Made by an artist based in the South East (does not include London)

We’d love to see work made by artists, or that includes artists who are from a background that is underrepresented in the culture sector.

If your work is selected, you will:

-Have the opportunity to be presented at a recognised film festival
-Receive £25 honorarium
-Receive five complimentary tickets for the screening
-Receive a Brighton Screendance Festival laurel to add to the credits of your film

Please note the films will be presented on a large screen, cinema style. If you would like your film to be presented in any other way, please let us know.

Apply here: Homegrown: Film Submissions (google.com)
It’s a quick and simple form but will require you to include a link to the film you would like to submit

Application deadline: Wednesday 2 October 2024, 9am
