Programme & Hires Support
South East Dance is recruiting for a new full-time role of Programme & Hires Support and we are looking for a committed, collaborative person to join our small, friendly staff team.
The deadline for applications is Monday 20 October 2025 at 12 noon
You will be based at The Dance Space. Located in the heart of Brighton & Hove, The Dance Space is the home for dance in the South East. With three dance studios, one of which converts into 123 seat performance space, alongside office space and meetings rooms, The Dance Space is a place where dance artists and people from all sorts of different backgrounds can explore dance on an equal basis. The building has been built with excellent access facilities and environmental standards and we enhance both these aspects in the way we operate the building.
As Programme & Hires Support you will be responsible for programme administration and delivery of a wide-ranging programme of artistic and hires activity. You will provide administration and delivery support across the following programmes:
- Children & young people
- Participation
- Artist support
- Hires - meetings, conferences and events
You will work closely with the programming team and the Head of Venue Hires to ensure that all activity and events are delivered in an effective and integrated way.
Key aspects of the role:
- To undertake the administration of the artistic, participatory and hires programmes.
- To support the team with the planning and delivery of our activities in The Dance Space, across the city and wider across the south east including performances, classes, workshops, conferences, meetings and events.
- To liaise with artists, participants, community partners and hirers of our spaces
We are looking for a well-organised and motivated person who is a good team player with great communications skills, a flexible approach, and good computer and IT skills. The role is varied and fast-paced and we’re keen to find someone who can juggle numerous tasks and strands of work, at various stages of planning and delivery, at any one time. As the role will be working across the programme, we're keen to hear from candidates who can connect with people from all walks of life. This role ranges from supporting a dance session with young refugees to settling an artist into a residency space and from supporting the delivery of a conference to facilitating the tea and coffee after our Rise & Shine sessions with older adults.
Generating income from the hiring of studios and meeting rooms in The Dance Space is instrumental in ensuring that South East Dance achieves its earned income targets, and this role has a key part to play to ensure our hires programme is delivered to the highest possible standards.
Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of administrative work, but we would also be pleased to hear from anyone who has other experience that they think would make them a good fit for the role. At the heart of it, we want someone with a friendly, can-do approach who can contribute to our vision for The Dance Space as a place that is welcoming to everybody. The position will be based every day at The Dance Space in Circus Street, Brighton.
