Introduction

South East Dance is looking for an Artist Support and Events Manager to join our small, friendly staff team.

You will be based at The Dance Space, the new home for dance in central Brighton & Hove. With three dance studios, one of which converts into a 123-seat performance space, alongside office space and meetings rooms, The Dance Space is a place where dance artists and people from all different backgrounds can explore dance on an equal basis. The building has been designed with excellent access facilities and environmental standards, and we aim to enhance these aspects in the way we run our programmes and operate the building.

The Artist Support and Events Manager role involves working closely with our existing programming team – with a focus on managing our extensive programme of artist support and events. This person, in partnership with the wider programming team, will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of various aspects of our artistic and participatory activities, liaising with production and technical staff; ensuring that our programmes are effectively evaluated; and will have a specific focus on leading on our programme of artist support and events.

We are looking for someone who is excited by the possibilities of helping artists in Brighton and beyond with opportunities to develop their practice, develop and present their work, and train. This person should also have the experience to deliver events of various scales – to a high standard for both artists and audience.

Working with artists and communities alike, we are looking for someone with a friendly, can-do approach who can contribute to our vision of The Dance Space as a place that is welcoming to everybody.
