One day Clowning workshop with Nose to Nose
This November try something new with a one day workshop in Nose to Nose Clowning. This will be a light-hearted, playful day exploring creativity, connection and spontaneity while discovering the poetry and humour of the Clown.
Clowning is a state of playfulness that brings us to experience a child-like, naïve and vulnerable state of being. Paradoxically we grow, learn and are strengthened through playfully reconnecting with what makes us most vulnerable. This approach to clowning is not a technique (tricks, gags and routines) but a personal journey toward finding one’s own unique way of being a clown, by listening and being receptive—essential skills for any creative and imaginative expression. It is only when we let go of our control over things that we begin to be surprised by the depth of what reveals itself to us. Come for a day of letting go and freeing up!
Ali has been facilitating Nose to Nose Clowning workshops since 2016, teaching across the UK and more recently in Europe. She sees this work as a strong practical foundation for creative practice, focusing on play, connection and presence while developing theatrical awareness. Interested in what is genuinely funny, touching and true for each person, Ali enjoys creating spaces where people can meet the moment simply, playfully and together. A qualified teacher (Université de Lille, France & University of Reading, UK), Ali is a fluent English–French speaker and former Head of Performing Arts at St Mary’s Special School and College, Bexhill. She has led Nose to Nose Clowning trainings (Levels 1–5) all over the UK and beyond, and worked with everyone from Giggle Doctors and medical students to writers, marketers and speech & language practitioners.
