In the coming months we will be finalising plans to introduce a new bursary scheme to encourage more people in the Tarner area to access our dance classes.

As we move into and establish ourselves in The Dance Space, we’ll continue to run our Welcome Project classes and activities from our partner venues. We know that it might take time for people to feel comfortable with joining us for sessions inside The Dance Space, so we’re planning to invite partiicpants in gradually through special one-off events and performances and gradually transitioning to weekly workshops.

We’re also planning to expand The Welcome Project by working with new partner organisations, such as the Black & Minority Ethnic Community Partnership (BMECP).

In the coming months we will be finalising plans to introduce a new bursary scheme to encourage more people in the Tarner area to access our dance classes and other activities, events and performances at The Dance Space and across the city. This will include free or sponsored places in classes at The Dance Space – more on this will be announced soon.

From early 2022, we hope to be able to host steering group meetings at The Dance Space, which has been designed to be accessible and inclusive and can provide more support for volunteers, staff, artists and participants with additional needs.

As our relationship with the Community Steering Group has developed, so too has their influence over our wider programme. This has included the group’s members co-curating our 20/20 Vision online screen dance festival as part of our Autumn 2020 programme. We hope to work with the steering group to make sure they become embedded as an important part of our team in the future. And, we’ll focus efforts on recruiting a more diverse group from across all our partnerships to help guide and shape future activity.

If you are interested in joining our Community Steering Group we’d love to hear from you. Contact us at hello@southeastdance.org.uk
