Silver Swans Ballet
Silver Swans is the result of a research project conducted by the Royal Academy of Dance into dance for lifelong wellbeing. This is a gentle ballet class to improve balance, posture, coordination, agility and spatial awareness.
After a loosening, general warm-up, exercises are undertaken at the barre and then in the centre, including some light jumps. Most of the work however does not involve jumping. We use recorded classical piano music and aim to create a sociable atmosphere where everyone feels at home.
Teachers have to be licensed by the RAD to deliver the programme.

As part of this year's Aging Well Festival, come and release your inner swan! Silver Swans followed two years of research dedicated to making ballet accessible for people age 55+. Some of our Swans are slightly younger than this, some older so don't be put off. Among the physical benefits are improved posture, balance, strength and coordination. This class takes Swan Lake as its theme.
