Rough Cuts: movement in the making

Rough Cuts is our programme of work-in-progress sharings, designed to support artists to develop their work in collaboration with an audience; and to offer an opportunity for audiences to get to the heart of the creation process.

Janelle Hacault

The term Rough Cut comes from the film industry - the first draft of a film — also known as the rough cut. What you experience won't have all the bells and whistles of a finished production but it gives the first idea of how a story is actually going to look onstage. This is the first chance a dance artist or choreographer has to test their movement ideas with a friendly, supportive audience.

See new works currently being developed at The Dance Space, meet the artists and hear them talk about their creative practice and the ideas behind their new work, and share your observations with the artists directly.
