About

Jules is an award-winning dancer and choreographer with over 20 years of experience, bringing a wealth of knowledge to South East Dance's professional training programme. After training at Rambert School, Jules went on to dance for Merce Cunningham Dance Company and Michael Clark Company. Their artistic vision has led them to found Julie Cunningham & Company (JCC), where they explore themes of gender, identity and mental health. Jules has developed a unique movement language, blending technical skill with contemporary exploration.

Beyond their performance career, Jules is a dedicated instructor and has guest lectured at Trinity Laban, Rambert School, and The Place, as well as in non-dance settings.

Class description

The class will begin with some Cunningham-based warm-up, moving into improvisation using scores and tasks Jules has been using in their choreographic practice. The aim is to make the class as inclusive as possible, offering ways to approach the movement from participants' own perspective and experience.
