Join tax advisor and accountant Jane Webster - who specialises in the arts and creative industries – for a session covering the basics of managing your finances.
Jane worked as a dance artist for ten years before becoming a producer, and then a Director of Dorset Dance (now Activate Performing Arts), and Dance South West (Pavilion Dance South West). In 2006 she completed a Masters in Business Administration and became a partner, then Director in Rowlands Webster, an accountancy firm with a diverse client base. She is also an occasional finance lecturer at Arts University Bournemouth, in Creative Events Management and is currently a Trustee of Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts and a Director of the Lyric Theatre, Bridport.
This presentation will cover the need-to-know basics, including:
- Registration for self-employment and the filing of tax returns.
- What you can and can’t claim as ‘business expenses’
- How to manage grant income and expenditure; managing project finances
There will be information on key dates and top tips plus time to ask questions specific to your individual needs.
