The Welcome Project

The Welcome Project is a programme of activities and events designed to encourage more people to dance in the run up to the launch of The Dance Space in Spring 2020, and beyond.

With the help of a brilliant and committed steering group made up of people from all walks of life living and working in the neighbourhood surrounding The Dance Space, we’re taking dance to communities - in their communities.

From tea dances at Brooke Mead Extra Care Housing Scheme to pop-up workshops at Brighton Youth Centre we’re challenging perceptions of what dance is and who it’s for.

In July 2018 we launched the inaugural Our City Dances festival, a flagship part of The Welcome Project which we hope will grow to become an annual citywide celebration of dance.
