Applications Open to UK Hip Hop Makers for Work Aimed at Children & Families

We’re supporting a callout for Hip Hop artists to respond to the lack of Hip Hop focused dance work for children and families, as part of the 2021 Artists 4 Artists festival

Artists 4 Artists is a festival of industry sharings, performances and workshops taking place online and live at The Place until 24 October, and aims to educate and provoke debate about the future of UK Hip Hop dance theatre.

UK Hip Hop artists are being asked to suggest ideas for Hip Hop based dance works for children and families.

Responding to the lack of Hip Hop artists creating work for different audience demographics, this callout will lead to commissions of two artists to undertake an R&D for a family show, with cash support of £2000 each with additional bespoke support from organisations experienced in producing family work.

Can you put a Hip Hop spin on a classical children’s story? Or do you have a totally new concept to tell us about for a children’s show?

Artists 4 Artists have brought together partners who have been nurturing work for children to offer a package of support for Hip Hop makers new to this realm the chance to make a successful touring production.

Visit the Artists 4 Artists website more details on this pitching opportunity and how to apply

There will also be a Zoom and Live Information Session for artists to find out more about the pitching process. This takes place on Friday 22 October, 5pm at The Place Lecture Room. Register here.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE FOR PITCHES: Monday 8 November

NOTIFICATION TO APPLICANTS: Friday 12 November
