U.Dance announce the line-up for the Summer Celebration of Dance
U.Dance, the national youth dance festival presented by One Dance UK, in partnership with the ISTD and London’s Southbank Centre host a summer celebration featuring a line-up of youth dance groups from across the country. We’re thrilled to report that out of the hundreds of entrants nationwide and 24 finalists, two South East Dance nominated groups will be part of the weekend-long showcase, which spotlights the exceptional talent of young dancers and celebrates the vibrant diversity of youth dance.
Following the regional platform held in February in partnership with MóTUS, Milton Keynes, Ceyda Tanc Youth Dance will represent the south east, while Drishti Dance have been nominated by inaugural event partners, Imperial Society of Teaching Dancers (ISTD).
Ceyda from Ceyda Tanc Youth Dance said:
“We are absolutely thrilled that Ceyda Tanc Youth Dance have been selected to represent the south east at U.Dance 2019. The dancers have all been working really hard in the studio getting prepared for the festival, and we can't wait to show our work at the South Bank Centre in July. It is really exciting to know that we will be performing at such a prestigious venue.”
Anuradha Chaturvedi, Artistic Director of Drishti Dance, said:
“It was a huge honour for Drishti Dance to be chosen to represent the south east region at the U.Dance national festival as part of the ISTD selection. It gives the young dancers such a fantastic opportunity to interact with the larger dance fraternity, and experience the vibrant celebration of all things dance in a mutually supportive and collaborative atmosphere.”
The festival takes place over the weekend of Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 July across various venues, including Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and The Clore Ballroom, and other leading venues in the area including National Theatre, Rambert and BFI Southbank. The weekend is a great opportunity for youth dance groups to gain valuable skills and experience, including performing on-stage, taking part in professional dance workshops, and meeting and working with other young dancers from across the country.
Both Ceyda Tanc and Drishti Dance appear on Sunday 21 July. To book tickets, visit the Southbank website here.
