Assistant Producer Job Description and Person Specification
Salary: £21,500 per annum pro rata
Pension: Employer’s contribution of 3% after three months of employment
Period of contract: Permanent
Hours: 29.6 hours per week, which includes regular evening and weekend work. (No overtime is payable but time off in lieu can be taken)
Annual leave: 22 days per year pro-rata plus statutory holidays. After two years’ employment an additional day per year pro rata will be added until a maximum of 25 days is reached.
Probation period: Two months

PURPOSE OF POST
To work closely with the Programme Producer to deliver the South East Dance’s Programme.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
To work at all times to deliver and represent the mission, strategic aspirations and ruling principles of South East Dance as outlined in the business plan.
Develop and coordinate key projects as directed, ensuring targets and activities are delivered to a high standard
Input creatively into the activity plans of the Artistic Programme.
SPECIFIC TASKS
Project Coordination
Project coordination as appropriate i.e. drafting and issuing contracts, liaising with artists, arts organisations and companies, delivering activity as required, compiling information for the communications team, filing, responding to emails.
Artist liaison to ascertain artists needs for allocation of advice surgeries
Coordinate the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of programme activity in line with the needs of funders and South East Dance.
Undertaking and supporting research that supports SOUTH EAST DANCE projects.
To attend regional and national meetings and conferences, as appropriate.
To keep clear and consistent records relating to allocated projects.
To represent South East Dance and its work through presentations, articles, and presence at events and meetings.
To co-ordinate and administrate reporting Programme activities to funders.
Coordination of key strategic meetings such as Move South East and dance Programmers Network as required.
Supporting Artistic Director and Senior Producer with coordination of events, meetings and others as required.
Marketing and communications
To represent South East Dance at conferences, meetings and other external events.
To liaise with Communications staff to create dynamic and relevant marketing materials and raise the profile of the Artistic Programme and South East Dance.
Line Management
To act as line manager for placements or interns as required.
General
To support the Artistic Programme to achieve its fundraising and meet South East Dance income targets, and to be responsible for identifying opportunities to diversify income streams which contribute to South East Dance’s overall fundraising target, in liaison with the Programme Producer.
Any other duties as may from time to time be reasonably requested by the Line Manager, the Senior Management Team, or the Board including ad hoc front of house duties and reception duties during busy periods and events festivals or performances.
Person Specification
Essential
Proven track record of co-ordinating and delivering high quality complex programmes that include artist development activities, participation and community arts/ dance activity, performances, festivals, conferences and a wide range of non-standard or traditional events
Understanding of the support infrastructure for arts & dance within England or the south region
Demonstrable commitment to grass roots dance development within the dance sector and Higher Education.
Demonstrable commitment to supporting artists through any opportunities SOUTH EAST DANCE can provide or offer via the artistic programme
Evidence of project management skills or experience of project and event management: e.g. planning, scheduling, managing staff teams, people, artists, delivery and evaluation
Proven commitment to equal opportunities and diversity
Good computer skills: competence in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, social media, CRM system understanding
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Empathetic approach to the workplace and all SOUTH EAST DANCE beneficiaries
Excellent inter-personal skills: ability to relate to a wide group of people in a professional manner
Experience of engaging with digital technologies to enhance project delivery and communications
Excellent at balancing a range of different demands
Able and willing to regularly work evenings and weekends and away from the office base as required with occasional travel

Knowledge of the arts funding system in England
Understanding of current dance practice within the England
Experience of teaching dance or working as a professional artist
Experience of using systems for online surveys, booking, ticketing and or event management
