Project O: Voodoo

Project O: Voodoo

The Old Market, Hove, BN3 1AS

Thursday 19 April, 7.30pm and 9.30pm. Run time 2 hours

Project O is a collaboration between artists Alexandrina Hemsley and Jamila Johnson-Small who make work that aims to continually address, re-evaluate, intervene, comment upon, resist and celebrate the fallout from being born black and female in 21st Century UK.

Voodoo is a durational unfolding that puts the audience centre-stage and confronts the desire, confusion and responsibility felt by individuals who are also symbols of long-persecuted people. It does this whilst celebrating the radical power of dance to explore, heal and challenge the violence of systematic oppression that haunts our society.

£15, £8 concessions

Suitable for 12+ under 16s to be accompanied.

This performance uses loud music, audience participation, darkness and some strong language

Voodoo is commissioned by Sadler’s Wells. Co-commissioned by Cambridge Junction and Chelsea Theatre (2015). Supported by MDI (Merseyside Dance Initiative) with residency development and preview at LEAP 2017
