12 October, 4 - 6.30 pm

South East Dance, Our Future City and Artswork are proud to present a special event as part of the series of #BeCollective networking events at The Basement.

Join us at 4pm for afternoon tea and cakes followed by a twilight session focused on children and young people's digital wellbeing and the arts & culture.

This will be another, free and entertaining networking event for anyone interested in digital culture and creativity, Arts Award and how they can improve the lives and futures of children and young people.

The event is open to primary and secondary teachers, freelancers and any colleagues in arts and cultural organisations who work with children and young people. For this event we welcome people from across the south east region to attend.

The event has a focus on digital wellbeing, Arts Award and digital resources for people working with children and young people to and aims to empower them and support them to better navigate the digital world. The session will provide networking and informative discussion led by partners working directly with young people, digital and the arts industry. The evening will include a showing of a short Channel 4 commissioned film, ‘Digital Tattoo’ made by Katie Dale-Everett, a young person who is a professional dance artist and film maker and a workshop by Francesca Gkotsi and Dave Darch on easy to use digital resources and Arts Award.

In addition you can also opt in to two extra sessions. Join us for a FREE two hour workshop from 2-4pm on E-safety: keeping children safe online led by Safety Network. Limited spaces available so we advise booking early.

Or if you are a dance teacher you might be interested in an Inclusive Dance workshop led by our partners Rounded Rhythm. This workshop is an opportunity to explore how to plan and adapt dance sessions for children and young people with a range of needs, including those with a physical or learning disability. The workshop will include hands-on experience of inclusive dance activities as well as reflection and conversation around the art of inclusive dance practice. Suitable for teachers/dancers of any dance style. Cost: £15 (subsidised rate thanks to support from South East Dance and Arts Council England)

Both additional workshops are 14.00 to 16.00 on Thursday 12 October 2017, and are situated next door to The Basement at Lighthouse, 28 Kensington Street, Brighton, BN1 4AJ.
