South East Dance have a lot to offer; so, whether you are an individual, a local community group or a business, there are many ways we can work together to make a real difference to people’s lives. Take a look…
Fund a studio at The Dance Space
We know that wonderful things happen when different groups of people come together, share ideas and get inspired.
You, your family or your business could fund an entire studio. Your support would be fully acknowledged, as we can offer naming opportunities for up to 10 year.
South East Dance is now building a creative home in Brighton & Hove that will inspire people of all ages and abilities to get involved with dance. With three state of the art studios, creative industries office space and artists’ accommodation, The Dance Space will be an iconic new centre for dance and an important addition to the national dance/arts infrastructure.
We want The Dance Space to encourage this in every way by creating a place where artists at different stages in their career, from all over the world, come together to create brilliant, surprising work. You, your family or your business could fund an entire studio. Your support would be fully acknowledged, as we can offer naming opportunities for up to 10 years. It’s more than just funding bricks and mortar, you will be providing a brand new space and community asset that will benefit the arts and local community for generations. For more information about funding a studio, or another element of The Dance Space, please contact Francesca Purcell, Head of Development on 01273 645 260 or email email@example.com.
Invest in new performances
Commission eye-catching performances and align yourself to some of the most talented performers and venues in the country.
South East Dance works with cutting-edge artists and established venues such as Brighton Dome & Festival, The Place and Sadler’s Wells to present performances from South East Dance supported artists. Your financial backing would make a huge difference, ensuring our artists can continue to create new work at the forefront of choreographic practise and reach audiences across the globe.
If you are keen to commission new performances we can provide you with lots of added benefits through shared marketing, co-branding as well as opportunities to meet artists. You will also receive priority invitations to our exclusive supporter events, previews and receive free tickets to shows.
If you would like to know more about how you can benefit from commissioning new performances and support our artists please contact Cath James, Programme Director on 01273 645 260 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Make a difference and support a community programme
We want to reach the diverse communities of Brighton & Hove and beyond with our work, ensuring we connect with children and young families, young people, long-term unemployed people, the LGBT community and the elderly. This includes those who have the least access to the arts situated in and around the Queens Park Ward area where The Dance Space will be. We want to ensure that everyone can access the health and well-being benefits of dance and that everyone can belong in The Dance Space.
We have a number of projects that require on-going support, such as Spring: Dancing into Recovery which is piloting an innovative approach to using dance to counteract the impact of substance misuse on vulnerable women and their children, here in Brighton.
Community and participation is so important to us here at South East Dance and if you feel passionate about everyone having access to the arts please support our Community & Participation programme. Long term partnerships make the biggest difference when it comes to community engagement, so if you want to make a difference to people’s lives here in Brighton & Hove and across the south east region, contact Rose Kigwana on 01279 645 260 or email email@example.com.
Charity partnerships can be brilliant for business, whether that’s employee engagement, retaining talent, or inspiring staff to bring teams together. We can share messages and stories to speak to a wider customer base to help build brand awareness for both organisations. Investors, customers and clients will gain a stronger sense of your corporate citizenship, which in turn can improve loyalty and commitment to your business.
We believe that partnering with South East Dance is about a joint vision that enhances both parties’ social return on investment. Together we would be focused on creating a long term and mutually beneficial partnership.
We are currently piloting an Artist Residency Commission with Brighton-based tech company, Brandwatch. They will be funding a dance artist to research and create ideas within their company over the next few months, responding to their business and employees, who analyse data through innovative technologies. The residency will truly be an experiment in creativity and will result in a sharing or performance within the Brighton Digital Festival in September 2016.
“If you see South East Dance and Brandwatch as an unlikely partnership, this is what makes it interesting to us. We know, from experience, that very cool things happen when you get professionals from disparate fields in a room together. This urge to challenge, pioneer and push boundaries is inherent to our organisation, and the Brighton Digital Festival gives us a great vehicle to experiment in this way. South East Dance have become good friends with Brandwatch over the last few years, through Brighton Digital Festival. We're very excited about this first opportunity for us to work together.” Matt Pearson, Brandwatch

Whether you’re thinking about making your first large donation to a charity, you are a local philanthropist or a known arts supporter you will know that larger private donations can make the biggest impact. If you are passionate about Brighton & Hove, supporting the arts, giving people access to dance and are keen to see the next generation of artists receive the support they need, we would love to hear from you.
Here at South East Dance we know that people give financial support to their chosen charities for personal reasons, so whether you have a connection to dance, believe in the difference the arts can make for local communities, or would simply want to see a social return on investment we would love to hear from you.
For us it is about shared passion and vision, so don’t hesitate to contact Francesca D Purcell, Head of Development on 01273 245 206 or email email@example.com to find out how we can connect and build a meaningful partnership that can make a real difference to the arts and people’s lives.
Support Artists Development
Support Artists Development and make an invaluable contribution to artists and the dance sector by helping us to support choreographers, dancers, producers and dramaturgs in their continuing professional development. Here at South East Dance we recognise that to ensure contemporary dance remains bold and progressive we are committed to supporting people who take artistic risks and develop new approaches. We support emerging talent as well as established dance professionals to access the tools, knowledge and resources they need to create their best possible work and realise their creative potential.
We run a number of recognised development and bursary programmes such as Pebble Trust Flourish Bursary, Dramaturg in Residence, Artist Advisories, Choreolabs and SED Producing. These are bespoke programmes designed to empower professionals from across the dance sector.
“Being supported by South East Dance has allowed me to open up new doors, perspectives and opportunities, which otherwise might not have been accessed, helping me to build the foundations for taking my career to the next level”
Katie Dale Everett on Emerging Artists Programme.
If you feel passionate about Artists Development as much as we do, we would love to hear from you. Please contact our Artistic Development Producer Elizabeth Mischler on 01273 645 260 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Your time is one of the most valuable gifts you can give.
Here at South East Dance, we recognise that everyone has a wealth of talent and expertise offer, even if you don’t realise it yourself. Volunteering, senior skills-sharing and pro-bono opportunities would be of real benefit to us. We can place skilled workers from a variety of professional backgrounds in different teams here at South East Dance and take a flexible approach to employee volunteering needs; we can cater for groups or individuals. Corporate volunteering with South East Dance can deliver a multitude of benefits that have impact across the board: for the employee, the employer, and for the projects that we run.
In addition to the traditional one day corporate volunteering projects, we can offer new, more flexible, shorter-term volunteering assignments. These more agile six-to-eight week roles are structured to deliver specific development needs in various areas, such as IT, strategy, finance, business development and management, HR and marketing.
Getting the worked based experience you need to break into the arts industry can often be a challenge, and we appreciate the energy, fresh perspectives and ideas new people can bring to the organisation.
An internship isn’t just any temporary job. It can be a bridge to your life’s work or an experiment in a career that interests you. Maybe you’ve heard a lot about them from friends, parents or a co-worker who used one to transition from another industry? You might be wondering, “What’s in it for me?” -if you’ve got questions about whether interning is the right way to achieve your career goals, this is the place to start.
Here at South East Dance, we take the time to identify what your training needs are and shape an internship programme that is perfect for you as well as helping the organisation to achieve its aims, to support artists in creating ground-breaking new performance work and to ensure that that everyone can have access to the health and well-being benefits of dance.
If you are passionate about the arts and are keen to shape your skills in this field, please email Francesca Purcell on email@example.com or call on 01273 645 260 and let’s get started!
