Pledge of support

pledgeofsupportnewsletterWe’re delighted to confirm that we have recently received our first private pledge of support for The Dance Space, our new home for dance in the heart of Brighton scheduled to open in 2018.  The Wolfson Foundation has agreed to contribute to the build and fit out of our main Creation Space Studio, a state of the art studio where artists can research, create and investigate their work with full technical and production capability.

NPO Investment

npoSouth East Dance is extremely pleased to announce that its application to Arts Council England (ACE) for National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) funding has been successful. This means that we can continue to support the development of outstanding artists, connecting their work to local communities across the region and beyond. We are very grateful to ACE for their continuing support and their recognition of the significance of the work we do.

Pact With Pointlessness

pactwithpointlessnessnewsletterWe recently co-commissioned Wendy Houstoun’s new work Pact With Pointlessness, which received its UK premiere to some fantastic reviews back in early June at London’s Southbank Centre. Given 4 stars in The Guardian, the work – a mix of spoken word and performance - offers a frank demonstration of how it feels to be knocked sideways by death, then renegotiate and carry on. Congratulations to Wendy on another excellent and probing piece. Read more here.

From Protein’s energetic pop-up performances of (In)Visible Dancing to Katie Green’s explorative and intriguing The Imagination Museum, we continue on our mission  to get Kent dancing! Take a look at our website for full listings.

Under The Vaulted Sky

underthevaultedskynewsletterAward-winning choreographer and former South East Dance Fellow, Rosemary Lee has created Under The Vaulted Sky, inspired by Milton Keynes’ magical Cathedral of Trees. The performances follow a year-long residency and will feature 100 dancers with live music by Terry Mann. The audience will be invited to promenade, following the performance as it weaves around the atmospheric environment of the Cathedral. Part of IF: Milton Keynes International Festival (18 - 27 July).
