Good news

£10,000 private investment to support our community work
We are pleased to announce that we have secured £10,000 investment from Cathedral Group PLC (the Developers of the proposed Circus Street regeneration project). This investment will enable us to begin building crucial partnerships with community organisations in and around the Circus Street area of the City so we can connect local people, particularly those who have had little opportunity to engage with the arts, with talented artists. We are really looking forward to creating greater opportunities to get more people of all ages and backgrounds actively involved in dance as we plan for The Dance Space, a permanent home for dance on the site. Thank you, Cathedral PLC.

The award-winning The Art of Defining Me
In 2013 we co-commissioned Seeta Patel and Kamala Devam's film The Art of Defining MeSince its premiere at the South Asian Dance Summit last May, it has been seen by audiences worldwide and has won Best Experimental Film and 2nd Best Overall Film at the LAB Film Festival in Hackney. In December it also won the Audience Choice Award at the international En-Route Film Festival. Congratulations Seeta and Kamala!
2013 - the year that was
Whilst we are now firmly in 2014, we thought we'd also reflect a little on 2013, another busy and very successful year for South East Dance. In 2013 we reached over 64,000 people. We commissioned 12 new works and supported 251 artists to develop their practice. We also saw a significant increase in our digital activity with our Blog receiving five times more visits than in 2012. Visit our website to read more about some of our past activities and achievements over the last year.

Funding success: great news for children and young people across the South East
We've secured a total of £33,850 from a combination of sources to significantly bolster our mission to provide fantastic dance opportunities for young people in Kent, West Sussex and Surrey this year. The funds from Kent County Council, Artswork, Maidstone Borough Council and Sevenoaks District Council will result in projects to help raise the profile of dance in local communities through schools and children's centres, introducing dance as a fun, participative art form with huge health and wellbeing benefits. Upcoming highlights

Two-week run for Probe at Soho Theatre
From 4-16 February, our Associate Artist Antonia Grove will embark on a two-week run at London's renowned Soho Theatre with Probe's new dance-theatre collaboration Running on Empty. Head into the West End to catch the show and support Antonia - ticket information is available on Soho Theatre's websiteRunning on Empty will then tour the UK before heading to France in April - visit Probe's website for the full tour dates.
New partnership project with Fabrica Gallery
Look out for our new collaboration with Brighton's Fabrica Gallery this spring, responding to Swedish visual artist Jacob Dahlgren's interactive exhibition celebrating the aesthetic of the mass produced object. Visitors will be able to touch and move through the works, with further interaction through a series of choreographed performances by dance artist Charles Linehan. Having worked with Turner Contemporary, Stour Valley Arts and Jerwood Gallery in the last two years, we're delighted to be working with Fabrica to continue enabling artists and audiences to experience dance in different contexts.

You can keep in touch with us via twitter and facebook - we'd love to hear from you.
