Men & Girls Dance - Community Catalysts
Acclaimed performance company Fevered Sleep and dance development charity South East Dance are creating a team of Community Catalysts, who represent different parts of the community in Brighton & Hove, to help us spread the word about our new project: Men & Girls Dance.
Men & Girls Dance brings together two very different groups of performers: men who dance professionally and girls from Brighton & Hove who dance for fun. At times playful, at times thought-provoking, Men & Girls Dance celebrates the rights of adults and children to be together, to play together and to dance together. It’s a joyful celebration of tenderness, empathy, and love.
There are plenty of opportunities to take part in Men & Girls Dance: as a part of the dance company made up of local girls; contributing to the Men & Girls Dance Newspaper; having a chat about the themes of the show over tea and cake at the Talking Place (which will pop up in Brighton & Hove over three weekends); or coming along to watch the show at Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts between 27 - 29 October 2016. We want to make sure people from all walks of life and backgrounds across the whole community feel welcome to take part, which is why we are recruiting Community Catalysts.
Our ideal Community Catalysts will have great communication skills, a strong sense of motivation, and plenty of enthusiasm. The project will commence on 19 September and will conclude at the end of October. They will take part in an induction session over a meal which we’ll provide, receive a toolkit, £100 to cover expenses, and plenty of support from the team at Fevered Sleep and South East Dance. We will ask them to go out and talk to their networks, give out the newspaper, invite people along to the Talking Place when it pops up, and to the Men & Girls Dance performances.
